Actress Nompilo Maphumulo, who is better known for her role as Nosipho Xulu on SABC1’s Uzalo, has ventured into Gqom Music.
Nompilo Maphumulo was born in KwaMashu, Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa. Besides acting, the talented actress is also a dancer.
After finishing her matric, Nompilo couldn’t further her studies and applied for a waitress and talesales agent jobs. Before joining SABC 1 drama Uzalo in 2015, she used to perform in theatres.
Speaking to Daily Sun recently, the Uzalo actress revealed that she has discovered another talent which is singing. Maphumulo told the publication that she believes that an artist must be multi-talented and be able to do anything related to art.
“The sky’s the limit for me. I don’t want to be known only as an actress but as an artist who is able to do anything related to the arts,” said Nompilo told Daily Sun.
Nompilo Maphumulo is planning to release a Gqom single titled Sebenzel’ Imali, featuring Mzulu Majola.
“I love music, dancing and entertainment. I also love to be around vibrant people. That’s why I chose to release a gqom song because it requires a person to be active and is easy to dance to,” said the actress.
The mother two children a boy and a girl namely Neliswa and Nosfundo also told DailySun that she hopes her music will be well-received by music lovers.
“Times travel fast. Before we know it, it will be a festive season now and every artist have started to prepare for this season.“I’m certain that people will dance to my song this festive season.”
