The AKA/Vth Season partnership presents two distinct tracks, each demonstrating AKA’s versatility and embodiment as a true African artist.

“I’m the only artist in South Africa that can mix genres and make it sound so good,” shares AKA about his first single drop, F.R.E.E, featuring award-winning self-professed cotton eater, Riky Rick and Durban’s finest DJ Tira.

F.R.E.E blends AmaPiano, House, Hip Hop and Kwaito together and AKA confidently confesses this to be one of his favourite songs that he’s ever made because of the blending of genres.

AKA’s second single features the highly anticipated collaboration with Cape Town’s prolific MC, YoungstaCPT, on the track titled Main Ou’s. “This is a record for the streets and the culture. A real Hip Hop record,” expresses AKA.

“I know you will enjoy the music. Can’t wait for you to hear it!” exclaims the Supa Mega.

Unpacking Main Ou’s and his collaboration with AKA, YoungstaCPT shares: “The title of the song is like a proverb for coloured people. Being the main ou means being ‘the dik ding’ the big guy, the boss man, the top of the food chain but also the fact it’s a mixture between the English and Afrikaans slang makes it more powerful as a name. It’s exactly what AKA calls himself, it’s Super Mega!”

YoungstaCPT adds: “For us to be joining forces after all this time shows that the relationship was established before the music was made. It should encourage more collaborations within the coloured community among artists but also across cities and backgrounds regardless of age or colour. The song gives you the feeling of breaking rules and surviving by any means necessary.”

AKA’s double release comes ahead of his groundbreaking collaboration with Reebok for the limited edition SneAKA being released on 26 October 2019, and the Ethekwini edition of AKA Orchestra taking place at the Durban ICC on 2 November 2019.
