Metro FM radio personality, DJ Sabby has always been incredibly passionate about the local music industry. He continues to give upcoming musicians a space to showcase their music and has teamed up with online talent scout agency, Flemoji, to highlight some undiscovered musicians through his new musical ‘Next Up’ EP.

This EP, which is set to be released in November 2021, aims to provide upcoming musicians with a platform to showcase their talent on a much larger scale.
What began as an Instagram initiative for DJ Sabby to connect with upcoming talent during the Covid-19 pandemic has now become a complete and polished project as the ‘Next Up’ EP is set to showcase upcoming talent he has discovered alongside their packaged singles.
From the 40 shortlisted artists, 20 have been selected to collaborate on various tracks that were recorded and packaged at music recording studio and podcast radio station, Blueprint Studios in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. These include Pillboyy, MorenaQ, Maglakz, Nest, DeCool, KwaziM, Rowmy Flamez, CJaymnandi, Miss Nozinatorr, GTwizz, Leezy, Chemi, Spacesave Logic, Kaydoo, Soweto Acapella and Picasso BaBy.
According to the Metro FM radio personality, all of these emerging artists are unique in their own right and each of them add a different flavour to the project. “The talent that ended up on the project are people who exude superstar qualities and have all the elements to grow given guidance and support,” DJ Sabby says. “They all have the ability to express their art through different genres and that for me stood out with most of them. They have also built communities that support them online and their townships. These are easily a group of new school musicians that have room to contribute within the South African music landscape in the near future. I have given them a bigger stage and I can’t wait to see them flourish.”
Over the years, DJ Sabby has cemented his brand in the hearts of South African radio and entertainment with years of experience, tenacity and the ear that has helped many artists break into the industry and this project is another example of how the personality continues to open doors for so many in the music industry.
“I’m well aware of the many challenges that upcoming talent face in order to get their music heard which is why this project is near and dear to my heart. I am grateful to brands like Drip footwear and Blueprint Studios for coming on board to help me make this project a reality,” DJ Sabby continues.
Ahead of the EP’s release, two leading singles will be released as a teaser to the project.
