Samkelo Ndlovu has been a part of the Rhythm City cast and eFamily for the past 7 years and, after almost a decade on the e.tv channel, will be embracing a new venture.

Fans of the cunning Lerato can look forward to more of her on-screen shenanigans, as she continues to lie, manipulate and weave her tentacles through the lives of anyone who stands in her way to success. Lerato’s last day on-air will be on the 14th of May.

Speaking on her journey with Rhythm City, the principal actress said, “In my 12 years in the film and television industry, I have played close to 10 roles on South African TV, but where I found a home was on Rhythm City. I found a place to harness and practice my craft while in the space of real thespians who share the same respect and love of this craft as I do, and that has made it the perfect environment for me to flourish.

My choice to leave this family has come from an inner artistic urge to let go of Lerato, whom I’ve carried for so long and to go forth and find new stories to tell and submerge into. Also, from an unfortunate case of inertia, that has lead me to stagnancy. I feel braver than ever to go out there and do new projects; that alone has brought me back to myself in itself. I will leave Rhythm City and Lerato behind, knowing I told Lerato’s story from an honest and textured place. This won’t be the last viewers will see of me, that is a guarantee. Thank you to e.tv, producers, cast and crew for making my stay such a fruitful and meaningful one.”

In addition to Samkelo’s departure, Amo Chidi, who plays the character of Rene, will be exiting the show and will be on-air until mid-April. She’s been with the show for 8 years.

“On behalf of the Rhythm City team, we would like to wish Samkelo and Amo all the best for their future. We will value their personification of the roles they played on the show and thank them for their dedication to entertaining the audiences. Thank you for being a part of the eFamily,” Said e.tv Head of Local Productions Ziyanda Mngomezulu.
