From India to Dubai, internationally renowned, celebrity make-up artist, Morag Steyn, is back in South Africa for E!Hollywood How Do I Look as the official make-up artist for the show.

Known for her list of loyal A-list clients both locally and abroad, Morag Steyn has had the opportunity and honour to work with the most elite in the entertainment industry, including various Bollywood artists like Kamal Hassan on Bigg Boss India, Atif Aslam, Ananya Birla, Neha Kakkar and Zareen Khan. Over the past year she has also worked with international fashion magazines like Vogue and Femina.

Returning for the second time as the official make-up artist for E! Hollywood How Do I Look, Morag Steyn will once again get the opportunity to work with the talented South African television star Roxy Burger who will be hosting the show.

The Durban Fashion Fair

The Durban Fashion Fair (DFF), which is a proudly eThekwini Municipality initiative developed to grow the fashion industry in the city, as well as create a platform for employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, is now celebrating 7 years on the fashion calendar!

Each year, the Durban Fashion Fair open up their doors not only for potential designers, but for aspiring models as well. DFF hosts an open casting for potential models within the Greater Durban area who are not registered with a modelling agency in order to offer them a platform to wear the creations of the designers invited to showcase their work.

Thousands of hopefuls turn up over the two day process and the judges have to narrow it down after a rigorous selection takes place with just 10 male & 10 female potential models being selected. They are then put through an 8 week “model boot camp” where they receive instruction in all aspects of modelling, including techniques of walking the ramp alongside professional models, etiquette at photographic sessions, as well as how to keep fit and healthy – the focus being on functional training over the 8 weeks.

Quiteria & George celebrates young women with its “WARRIOR” line at Dakar Fashion Week 2018

Quiteria & George, a South African designer duo ​is​ showcas​ing​ at the 16th edition of Dakar Fashion Week taking place from 20 to 24 June in Senegal.

They are among 35 chosen designers from around the world. In remembrance of the 1976 uprising in Soweto and in celebration of today’s youth, especially women, the pair have named the line: “WARRIOR”.

“This collection is reflective of all aspects of tradition and culture. We strive to always show diversity in our work through demonstrating architecture in motion, which is informed by keeping abreast with the latest trends, pop culture, and societal discussions,” says Quiteria Kekana, co-designer at Quiteria & George. “We found it of vital importance to close the gap and drive a dialogue about youth and women empowerment. In a world that is driven by patriarchy, dissolution and imbalances, it is crucial as creatives to recall the disempowered and place their discourse in the forefront.”

George Malelu, co-designer at Quiteria & George, adds: “To strive and find the warrior in today’s young women, the aesthetic of our designs focuses on the pre and post Democracy to create the synergy between the two women, because these generations feed off from each other. This is for women as they continue to build, love and nurture by displaying insurmountable strength.”

South African rapper Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi, better known by his stage name Kwesta, is the latest celebrity to be featured on the GQ Magazine cover for June 2018.

GQ is an international monthly men’s magazine based in New York City and founded in 1931. The publication focuses on fashion, style, and culture for men, though articles on food, movies, fitness, sex and many more.
