Former Backstage Actor Sibusiso Radebe Passes Away

Former Backstage star Sibusiso Radebe has died at the age of 37. Best known for playing Vusi on the etv soapie, Backstage, Radebe was also a YOTV presenter, having started his tv career as a presenter on X-Attitude.

He was also an accomplished dancer and musical theatre star. News of Sibusiso Radebe’s death was revealed by close friends on social media on Friday morning.

Sibusiso was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy in January 14, 2019.

Radebe’s manager, Wesley Mark Gainer, confirmed his passing to TshisaLIVE. His death came as a shock to many and those close to him were heartbroken by his death.

Taking to Twitter, former child star Thobi Mkhwanazi shared a throwback picture of her with Radebe when they were younger. She said she was heartbroken to have lost two friends in two months.

“To have lost both Crazy Lu and Abu my former X-Attitude colleagues both in a space of 2 months is absolutely heartbreak to say the least. You may be gone but never forgotten. Heaven has gained another angel (sic),” – Thobi Mkhwanazi wrote.

On December 23, 2019, Sibusiso made a griping reflection about his life while battling with the deadly disease and how he looked forward to making it to 40.

“Lord knows why, but I wasn’t ready to die. So i went through watching myself scratching the hair of my head and the skin peel off my feet with my socks from the radiolotherapy… the rest of the hair on my body began to fall off and i looked on in despair…

“I have accomplished a lot in my life, for which I am grateful. I am three years away from 40 and I wonder what it has in store for me… because apparently life only begins then, and I am looking forward to it,” – he wrote

Sibusiso Radebe has acted in numerous television dramas including Mzansi, Home Affairs, Gaz’lam, Stokvel, Mtunzini.com and City Ses’la.
