Pinky Mcpurpley whose real name is Nokuthula Moilwa is a 23-year-old South African female hip-hop artist, entrepreneur and photographer from Johannesburg.
Pinky Mcpurpley was the first ever female artist to make it to the Jagermeister and the only female finalist on the #GigiGoesGold competition brought by Mabala Noise.
Pinky, who was recently featured on the front page of local newspaper Daily Sun, YoTV and Shizlive, was featured on the recently released Tape by Hip Hop Live SA including an episode alongside Benchmarq, Shabzi Medallion, Jimmy Wizz and a number of hip-hop artists and has over 30 000 followers on Twitter.
She has always been involved in arts from the early age of 11 when she was in theatre arts in a group called M.U.K.A where they did drama, dance, poetry and choral music. She went on to play soccer at a senior level for WITS ladies football club.
In high school she was involved in debate, public speaking and was part of the student representatives at school.
Her career as a hip hop artist began in November 2015. Mcpurpley has gone to release 4 singles of which have been played on Vow FM, Stamparama FM in the UK, Hillbrow community radio, CosmoFM, Rawjamz online radio station, Belter radio (UK) Venrap radio station, Madibaz radio and Trultimate records in Zimbabwe and is currently in the top 10 chart in Zimbabwe.The young musician managed to build a name for herself with appearances on MetroFM (Rap Activity Jam) hosted by Oskido & Rashid, YoTV, Shizlive, Touch HD, MTV Base, V Entertainment, Hillbrow Radio, YVFM, VOWFM & University of Hustlers on CosmoFM.
She is currently working with Golden Beats (Afrotainment), Hip Hop Live SA, Drumz by Sandy, Vera (Gigi Lamayne’s deejay) on a single set to drop soon, spirit sound studios which is the home of the legendary Benjamin dube, Djokovic Dekstir, 90THREE (Power Sounds), DJ Rico who has worked with the likes of major league, Kly, Tweezy & Golden Black , Lale from Next Generation Clique, Jah-Boi Xtype and Gsix who are Nigerian artists and a number of other artists.
She has also been featured on Ipromo Naija a blog spot from Nigeria, Hip Hop Live SA, Unorthodox blog, Young Nation News and Living out loud magazine alongside Babes Wodumo, Caster Semenya and a number of other amazing individuals.
Nokuthula has performed alongside A-Reece, Black Motion, Kid Tini, Golden Black Ent, Mocchachino Ochi, Jazz Kid, DJ Condo and many more and is currently working on a joint album with Xtype and Gsix who are Nigerian artists which is set to drop soon.
She has performed at market at the fort alongside Deep House Love Affair, Skyline, 94 Republic, at the gaymes annual event, at the black girls rising event at the Sharpeville human rights precinct, in Johannesburg theatre at Bf kitchen and pub and a various number of places
