Holly Rey nominated for ‘Songwriter of The Year’ award at AfriMusic Song Contest

SAMA award-winning artist Holly Rey has been nominated for the ‘African Songwriter of the Year’ award at the AfriMusic Song Contest for her song ‘Fire’.

Talking about her nomination, Holly Rey said in a statement that: “Since we released the EP ‘You’ late last year, the crew’s been talking about how we’re going to get our sound out there in Africa. We were just talking about what our next move should be when we heard the news from AfriMusic 2020.”

Holly Rey also took to Instagram to share her excitement for the ‘African Songwriter of the Year’ award nomination.

“We have been nominated for the @afrimusicsc for my songwriting in my track Fire. It’s such an honour to get recognition for your craft as an artist amongst so many incredible songwriters across the African Continent! I am so excited about this nomination (sic),” – she wrote

Other South African artists nominated include Brady Yocré, Delta The Leo, Jolanda Becker, Muneyi, Presss, Thato Kashe, Cherry Pill, Emma Parlabean, Kenton Lee, Khobi King, Badfellaz, Dave Starke, G-C Celebrity, Kaecy, Ylva & Linda Persson, LusiBlaq, Makhush, Travolta Salane and Mandlamakhulu.

The crown for best African Song of 2020 will be announced on the 27th April 2020, with the finalist eligible to perform at a Eurovision event on May 16, 2020.
