South Africa’s 22 year old fast bowler Kagiso Rabada become the country’s seventh bowler to lead the ICC Test rankings on Monday. This was after he gave his country a success over India at Newlands on Monday afternoon with South Africa tasting a 72-run victory over the Indians.

The other bowlers from the rainbow nation to lead the ICC rankings include Aubrey Faulkner, Hugh Tayfield, Peter Pollock, Shaun Pollock, Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander who is currently number 6 on the ICC Test charts.

KG, as Kagiso Rabada is popularly known, gained 5 points on the day to surpass England’s Jimmy Anderson with a single point on the world ranking to take the top spot.

When talking to ICC reporters, Rabada couldn’t hold his excitement and said he is just living his dream.

“It’s special to be ranked as the number-one Test bowler in the world. It is a surreal feeling. It’s what you dream of achieving when you start playing the game,

“Cricket is ultimately a team sport and I’m thankful for the support from my team mates. It’s a great start to the year personally and for us as a team. Hopefully we can continue putting in winning performances.”

KG was one of the stars who shone in ICC’s Under 19 World Cup that was hosted by the UAE in 2014.
