According to SowetanLIVE, the car accident happened in Midrand, Johannesburg, on Sunday afternoon. The accident happened soon after Kaizer Chiefs returned from Port Elizabeth, where they beat Chippa United 4-2 in the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

The news about Khama Billiat’s accident was first published by the Zimbabwean website soccer24.co.zw, reporting that the 28-year-old was involved in a car accident but the star didn’t even need to go to hospital, despite the damage to his Infinity SUV.

The website, which also posted the photo of the car, reported: “Warriors and Kaizer Chiefs Star Khama Billiat escaped unhurt after the car he was travelling in veered off the road and went into the sideways gullies.

The incident happened last evening. No official statement has been issued by the player or his club, but picture evidence shows minor damages to the car.”

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, Chiefs spokesperson Vina Maphosa confirmed the news: “Billiat was involved in an accident [on Sunday] and it was caused by a burst tyre. it happened where the N1 joins the M1 in Midrand. He was going home after we returned from PE.”

“He lost control and hit a pavement, but there were no other cars involved. He didn’t sustain any injuries.” – he added
