Kruger National Park in South Africa offers a wildlife experience like no other! Originally founded in 1898 as Sabi Game Reserve the area later enlarged and turned into a national park in 1926.

The park is now one of the largest popular reserves in Africa covering over 7,000 square miles of land. In 2002 the park became a part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park which links Kruger with the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe and the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique.
One of the easiest ways to get to Kruger National Park is to take a plane from Johannesburg Airport to one of several airstrips near Kruger. The flight is about 90 minutes. The other option of getting to Kruger is to drive the 6 hours from Johannesburg to Kruger.
There are a number of accommodation options in Kruger as well as in the surrounding areas. Accommodations range from top of the line luxury resorts to rustic camping on the banks of a river.
Kruger National Park is home to a variety of species of plants, trees, amphibians, mammals, reptiles, birds, and fish. If you’d like to get up close and personal with the nature in South Africa there are wilderness trail tours throughout Kruger National Park. While hiking on the wilderness trails you might encounter bushman paintings, a lion pride, a variety of birds, and rhino. While on the tour you will be placed in a small group and guided by an experienced ranger.
