Musician Robbie Malinga passes away

The hitmaker Robbie Malinga passed away this afternoon at the age of 49.

Malinga was in ill health and has passed away after suffering from a life-threatening illness. Robbie had been diagnosed with anaemia earlier this year and has been in and out of hospital.

According to Tshisa LIVE, his wife confirmed his passing today.

“I just got confirmation that he died this afternoon. However we still need to get the finer details from his family,” Kenny Tlale said.

The musician’s manager Sipho Dube also told TshisaLIVE  he was currently with Malinga’s family and they would only confirm the news after a family meeting.

“I can’t say anything at this stage without speaking to the family. You will need to call me tomorrow.”

“He has been sick and we’ve had to counter so many false death messages about him, but this time it is true. Nobody can believe it. He was well. He was better,” said Universal Music spokesperson Dharam Sewraj.

“We’re heartbroken to learn the news of the untimely passing of legendary Kwaito & Afro Pop producer, Robbie Malinga. We have lost an illustrious Kwaito pioneer who paved the way for future generations of artists. We send our deepest sympathies to his loved ones. #RIPRobbieMalinga, ” – Minister Nathi Mthethwa tweeted.

Former Isibaya actress Jessica Nkosi also took to social media and share her deepest condolences, “Oh God…Rest in perfect peace Robbie Malinga.  You will be missed… Lala kahle Baba. God please comfort and be with his family. #RIPRobbieMalinga”

“Rest in pure Peace, Robbie Malinga. I pray you have a serene journey back to our Eternal Source. 🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️💫💫 #RIPRobbieMalinga,” – Boity tweeted.

Robbie was known for his hit songs Baby Please, Sobabili, and Mthanda in November released a self-titles album.

Malinga’s family is holding a meeting this evening and will release an official statement tomorrow.

Rest in Peace Mr Robbie Malinga. You will always be missed.
