Blaklez, who has three albums under his belt, caught up with Cape Talk’s Sara-Jayne King, to talk music, life and love and fatherhood.

The rapper has a 5-year-old daughter named Kopano Ranaka with radio presenter Dineo Ranaka. Despite their public break-up which happened four years ago, the pair decided to put their differences aside for the sake of their daughter.

Speaking to Sara-Jayne King about co-parenting with Dineo, Blaklez said: “I think she’s one of the misunderstood people, but I think people are starting to see her character. She’s one human being who cares so much about human beings,” – he defended Dineo.

“Time is the most precious commodity. We came to the realisation, we have a daughter and time is so precious,” – he added.

He also spoke about his late mother Josephine Appolous from Namibia and how she was not keen about the fact that he wanted to be a soccer player.

“I was scouted [for a football scholarship] and my mother said, no deal. I was very upset, but she said you have more to offer the world than just being a football player.”
