South African actress Lunathi Mampofu is best known for her starring role as Zikhona in the SABC1 drama series Ingozi. The 31-year-old from the Eastern Cape was shocked when she got a call to report for a shoot.
Lunathi has landed herself a role with leading production company, Ferguson Films. She plays a tomboy named Benni on drama series The Queen Mzansi.
Speaking to SunBuzz, she told the publication that “In the show, my parents separate whil I’m still young and I grow up in orphanages. That is where I meet Jomo and Diamond.” Her character then teams up with Diamond (Zolisa Xaluva) to take revenge on the Khozas and the Mabuzas.
Speaking of her character, Lunathi further added that playing Benni is easy because she grew up as a tomboy.
“I was surrounded by boys and my brothers,” said the actress.
Lunathi, who is the sister of twin actors Oros and Prince Mampofu, lived in New York and Los Angeles, US and studied performing arts at the New York Film Academy.
