Andrew Stein, Massmart’s vice president of group marketing, shared that Makro’s Black Friday strategy focuses on “giving consumers access to genuine discounts that address their everyday needs.” He encouraged customers to explore deals on the Makro website or app to prepare for their shopping responsibly.
For shoppers planning holiday or back-to-school purchases, Makro has prioritized bulk options alongside individual products. According to Stein, the brand is prepared to help customers “stretch their rands further,” thanks to careful supplier negotiations.
This announcement comes shortly after Massmart confirmed that Black Friday 2024 sales across Game, Makro, Builders, and Jumbo Cash & Carry would run throughout November. Massmart introduced extended Black Friday promotions following last year’s positive customer feedback. Stein emphasized that these deals respond directly to customer demand for “authentic value” in light of the financial strain many households are currently experiencing.
