MKHMA Partners With Mmabana Arts And Culture to Announce MKHMA Winners

The 5th annual Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards winners will be announced on the 31st of December 2020 and will be broadcast live from the marvellous Valley of The Waves in Sun City, at 19:30. The alluring Queen of Bling, Khanyi Mbau, will be hosting alongside Gomora’s very own, GP MaOrange, on a festive night that celebrates greatness within the Kwaito and House fraternity.

“In the fight against Gender-Based Violence, we as MKHMA will be using the announcement to celebrate and raise further awareness on issues faced by women and to say no to GBV.” Says MKHMA’S Managing Director, Mr Thulani Malinga. The winner’s announcement which was set to take place during Women’s Month in August, encountered several funding issues in hosting the awards for this year. Due to the Covid-19 regulations, the main event will regrettably not have any attendees this year but is sure to dazzle virtual audiences who will be watching the masterpiece streamed live on social media platforms.

“It’s been a tough year for all of us at MKHMA, and all South African musicians and entertainers as a whole.” Says MKHMA Communications Officer. “We therefore would like to send a special thank you to our amazing partners, the North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation (ACSR) and the Mmabana Arts Culture and Sports Foundation for making this announcement possible.”

In the fight against gender-based violence on women and children, MKHMA will be celebrating women in this year’s announcement and will have an exceptional line-up dominated by popular female performers such as Nokwazi, Winnie Khumalo, Rethabile Khumalo, Soul G and Ozana, with a special performance from the legendary Trompies . In memoriam of the late Godmother of Kwaito music, MKHMA will be celebrating the legacy of Nomasonto Mshoza Maswanganyi, throughout the 5th annual Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards.

“I was deeply hurt and disturbed by the sudden passing of the Queen of Kwaito, Mshoza.” Says MKHMA Founder and CEO, Mrs Perfecta Malinga. “As one of the leading female musicians in this male dominated industry, Mshoza was set to perform, but now that she has left us, we have since had to change the entire program because of her passing, and make sure that we pay homage to her later this month. She will forever be missed and may her soul rest in peace.”

The Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards are about recognizing, celebrating, and connecting Kwaito and House artists who are constantly working hard to craft great music, individuals who have the capacity for achievement and success, and who contribute in an inspirational way, to the future of South African music.

Nominees for the illustrious MKHMA awards were announced earlier this year, and the winner’s announcement will be viewed on the MKHMA website, Youtube and our various social media platforms.
