Uzalo, which recently set a new record of SA’s most-watched show with 10.2 million viewership, announced that Mxolisi, Thobile and Pastor Mdletshe will be leaving the show.

Nay Maps played Mxolisi Mdletshe, a young man who grew up in his father’s shady dealings, violence, dodgy dealings and police run-ins.

Nokuthula played Thobile. Thobile works at a saloon where she does hair and nails. She’s bubbly and fun.

Glen Gabela joined the show as the new Pastor Mdletshe.

“Season 4 brought incredible evolution and riveting storylines to our screens, and our incredible cast delivered over and above every time,” – Head writer of the soapie Bongi Ndaba told DRUM.

She added that the team was grateful for the energy produced and the cast members’ dedication.

“We’re so grateful for the golden energy and dedication Nay Maps, Nokuthula and Glen Gabela brought to Uzalo – they breathed life into their characters and have been a major part of 2018’s success. Saying goodbye to these characters and actors is so hard, and we do so by wishing them all the best going forward and have no doubt they will continue to deliver their magic on our screens.”

  1. Is there a reason why they are leaving Uzalo cause chopping and changing characters affect the soapie as it takes time to get used to new pupil and uThobile and uMxolisi are the original faces of your soapie. They departure will leave a huge gap.
