In a statement released to the press on Tuesday, SABC 1’s Real Goboza made the announcement that Phat Joe will no longer be a part of the show.

“SABC 1 and RGB bids farewell to the shows’ longest serving host, Majota “Phat Joe” Khambule after a solid 7 year stint on the popular gossip entertainment show. The seasoned presenter joined RGB in 2010,” the statement reads.

“Phat Joe has been a valuable member of the Real Goboza (RGB) family and an excellent driver on our journey of entertaining South Africans. His professionalism, insight and engaging character kept our viewers glued to their screens. We wish him all the best.” – Sydney Mekgwe, the show’s producer.

About leaving, Phat Joe is quoted as saying: “Thank you to all the fans for the opportunity. I had a lot of fun! Most importantly thank you to the entire RGB team. I will see you all in the near future. Watch this space.”

In early July it was also announced that Phat Joe would wave goodbye to his morning show on East Coast Radio “due to a variety of exciting new commitments outside of KZN.”
