Robbie Malinga opens up about his illness

The award winning musician Robbie Malinga expressed fear about leaving his wife and children behind.

Musician Robbie Malinga’s health has been a point of speculation/ discussion for months and he has finally decided to get real about exactly what happened in an interview with Sowetan newspaper.

“I was scared for my kids, man. My kids are so spoilt; I make sure that I do everything for them. My wife as well, she’s still young to have her husband die…my fans. It was scary but I am a strong person, I am a believer,” he told the publication.

Speaking about what was described as “a life-threatening disease,”  Malinga revealed that he was officially diagnosed last December.

“I had just come back from France and I was scared. You know how doctors are, they would scare you, ‘if you don’t do this or that’ and ‘let’s buy time’ those terms they use … so I asked, ‘why are we buying time, am I dying?'” explained the star.

He went on to say that he has anaemia and that his body couldn’t pump blood anymore due to some kind of liver complication.

He was also very aware of the fact that the public was speculating about the state of his health.

“It became a joke. People are mean out there. I had lost weight more than this and on social networks they were saying I’m the face of Bio-Slim, it was the funniest thing, I even laughed. People are mean. There are lots of kids on social networks, 16 or 17 year-olds, and for them it’s a joke, and it’s not a joke. But kids will be kids,” said Malinga.

The artist also let it be known that he is feeling much better now and is in tip-top shape to perform as he is fully booked to perform until January 2019.
