Award winning South African sports journalist and television & radio personality, Robert Marawa, took both the country and Mr Wilson B Nkosi by surprise this evening with a special tribute in honour of Mr Wilson B Nkosi’s 30 year milestone on radio at Metro FM.
Robert Marawa’s popular LEGENDS feature on Fridays was converted to a tribute to the legend that is Mr Wilson B Nkosi which included contribution and special remarks from the likes of Walter Mokoena and Tim Modise, whom Mr Wilson B Nkosi described as one of his favourite broadcasters of all time.
Mr Wilson B Nkosi took the surprise tribute in his stride often remarking at his loss of words and humility to the gesture from Robert Marawa. Robert Marawa also presented Mr Wilson B Nkosi with an award for his contribution and dedication to his craft over the years. Mr Wilson B Nkosi called this award his “Oscar” and expressed his gratitude to Robert Marawa for paying tribute to him for doing what he does best on radio, which was his first, second and third choice.
On why Robert Marawa chose to pay tribute to Mr Wilson B Nkosi, he expressed: “I believe in honouring people whilst they are still alive.”
