Rouge wins a SAFTA award for Best Micro Budget Film

South African rapper Rouge won the Best Micro Budget Film award for the New Era Sessions Film at the SAFTAs in Sun City.

According to Zkhiphani, the film which accompanies Rouge’s debut album features entertainment heavyweights, Atandwa & Fikile Kani, the inimitable Denise Zimba and a debut appearance from Cassius Davids, depicts the story of a young woman on her journey of self-discovery.

“I am humbled and honoured to have received this level of recognition from the South African Film and Television Industry. It is an incredible accomplishment for not only me but for the incredible team that supported me and worked alongside me to bring my vision to life. As a woman artist, I am proud to help pave the way for future female artists to find their voice.” said Rouge.

The rapper took to social media expressing how much she was honoured to receive the SAFTAs award.
