SAMA awards 2019 winners

SAMA awards 2019 winners – The 25th South African Music Awards (SAMA) took place at Sun City Superbowl last night.

The hosts of the SAMA25 were legendary presenters Mel Bala and Bob Mabena who reunited on screen since their Studio Mix days. Khuli Chana and Twasa Seoke represented the 2000s while Nomzamo Mbatha and Mpho Popps represented the young ones.

The biggest winners at the SAMAs included Sho Madjozi, Sjava and Black Motion. The award ceremony started on Friday, with Joyous Celebration winning best selling artist and best selling DVD.

Sho Madjozi won the female artist of the year and newcomer of the year awards. BET Winner Sjava walked away with awards for best Afro pop album and the album of the year.

Black Motion won two awards, best dance album and the best group/duo of the year. South African rapper Nasty C won best produced album of the year for Strings And Bling and best hip hop album.

Spikiri won the best kwaito/gqom/amapiano award for his King Don Father album.

Legendary bands Bongo Maffin and Trompies, along with other kwaito artists, kept the crowd entertained. Gospel legend Rebecca Malope also gave a stellar performance at the SAMA25.

Kelly Khumalo, Sho Madjozi, DJ Sumbody, DJ Tira, Distruction Boyz, Dladla Mshunqisi and Mobi Dixon closed the award ceremony with their performances.
