What is SASSA Stats?

SASSA Stats are facts which are obtained from analyzing information expressed in numbers. Stats is an abbreviation for ‘statistics’. SASSA Stats help the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) to know the exact number of South Africans who rely on grants given by the government.

As of 2021, for many households in South Africa, grant payments have replaced salaries as their source of income since some people lost their jobs due to Covid-19 global pandemic.

Although the Special Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress grant will be terminated at the end of April in 2022, the SASSA Stats provided on a monthly basis indicates that there are still many South Africans who are applying for the SASSA R350 Grant.
