South African rising hip-hop star Bad Boy Mo talks music

Meet Bad Boy Mo who resides in Kagiso West of Johannesburg. Mo-SA, whose real name is Oscar Mninimzi Maqwathi, is a South African rising hip-hop artist who’s always on the streets hustling and performing every weekend on various events and gigs.

Speaking to Quick Read team, Mo-SA said that being a creative artist has never been easy and sometimes the influence comes from your surroundings, the support and the love people give you through your hustle.

“I am not looking back as I focus on my music growth. Bad Boy Mo is working very hard to expose his talent. He gives a unique taste to his followers and listeners. I always try to share my talent with others. The best part about it all is doing collaboration with other artists as well. We growing ourselves as local artist.” – he said.

The talented young rapper from Johannesburg said Bad Boy Mo the hip-hop influencer, is putting his name in the music industry. Currently, he’s working on his much anticipated extended play (EP) titled “Better Late Than Ever‘. Bad Boy Mo promises to deliver good content for the streets.

Fighting for air play across all radio stations in Jozi. A lead single plus a music video for the EP will be dropping soon on all online stores. Bad Boy Mo is known for straight up hardcore bars which landed him in a rap competition last year with Ms Cosmo on 5FM 9 weeks straight. So you can already tell he’s ready to take over the South African hip-hop game with a storm. He recently just signed a deal with Demag Records and got a chance to work with the sensational singer T. Phoenix who was featured by L-Tido on his album.

Mo-SA has shared a stage with the likes of Ab Crazy, F Eezy, Nhlanhla Nciza from Mafikizolo, Sbuda P, Black P, Jr, Rythmic Elements, Winnie Khumalo, Kalawa Jazz Me and acts such as Dr. Malinga, Busiswa, Chommie, Arthur, DJ Aj, Two Nyce and many more.

Bad Boy Mo started writing his first lyrics in 2006 and now his music has been growing from and now then. He explains his music as for everyone and everybody. The versatile up coming artist uses a numerous languages on his music to try and accommodate everyone. He calls his style of music a “Gangsta Rap.”

“A lot of people would think this is just another rapper who is here to talk about guns, drugs, women and sex, because Gangsta Rap is famously known in the United States for big artists such as The Game and Dubb.”

“I am to be the first South African Gangsta Rap mogul to reach people’s ears and radio stations without having to rap about violence or any negative exercise these US rappers portray,” – he said.

While many local artists rap about money, Bad Boy Mo raps about how he grew up without money. He’s giving his fans the side of his story (life), where to from here and who to love around you.

“Rap is about expression and music is communication. I was inspired to do music and the feeling is awesome. I also wanna give people that feeling, make them have butterflies in their stomaches every time they listen to my music,” – Mo-SA concluded.
