MTV Music Awards are back with a bang and the competition is very stiff on the African continent. Between 2017 and 2018 the continent witnessed the release of amazing music from different genres.

Music artists mainly from South Africa and Nigeria have shaken the airwaves with their melodious and rhythmic musical instruments. This has shown that big things are happening in Africa.

MTV Music Awards has recognised the talent of some of the artists in Africa. Some of them have made it to the 2018 MTV Music Awards. MTV announced the nominees for the 2018 MTV EMA Awards and some African pop stars made it to the list.

It’s not a surprise that the likes of Davido and Tiwa Savage have made it to the nominee’s list. But there is something that will raise many music lovers’ eyebrows. However, the Omunye hit-makers The Distruction Boyz have surprised many due to the fact that they are the new kids on the block. Their appearance on the nomination list clearly showed that they have done remarkably well.

Distruction Boyz and Shekinah nominated at the MTV EMAs

Gqom music duo from Durban, Distruction Boyz and singer-songwriter from Durban, Shekhinah Thandi Donnell have been nominated at the MTV EMAs (MTV European Music Awards).

MTV Europe Music Award is an award presented by Viacom International Media Networks to honour artists and music in pop culture. It was originally conceived as an alternative to the MTV Video Music Awards, which are hosted annually in the United States.

Distruction Boyz and Shekhinah are nominated in the Best African Act alongside last year’s winner Davido, Fally Ipupa and Tiwa Savage.

Forbes Africa has released its fourth edition of the 30 under 30 list and some of the continent’s most accomplished young artists, entrepreneurs and technology stars.

Forbes Africa describes this year’s list as its most comprehensive yet, writing:

“The 2018 FORBES AFRICA Under 30 is our authentic and most definitive list of Africa’s most promising young change-makers. This year is our fourth edition of the list and for the first time, inspired by the growing number of young men and women entrepreneurs, we have expanded it to bring you 30 game-changers, all under the age of 30, in each of the three sectors – business, technology and creative. The 90 in total are challenging conventions and rewriting the rules for the next generation of entrepreneurs, creatives and tech gurus.”

The publication also stated that they put in months of rigorous research, sifting through over 600 nominations, vetting them for weeks, verifying and investigating them.
