According to SowetanLIVE, Big Zulu grabbed his partner by the throat and threw her on the floor three times at their rented flat in Newtown, Johannesburg.

Speaking to Sunday World, the victim who cannot be named, told the publication that it was the first time the rapper laid his hands on her.

“The problem started two weeks ago when I confronted him. He was sitting outside with his friends and two girls. I called him to the side and asked him who the girls were. That was not the first time [I found him hanging around with strange women]. I asked him because I needed to know why he keeps doing that and disregarding my feelings. He got aggressive but that time he walked away,” she said.

She further told the publication that she had been battling depression which was made worse by the abusive situation. As a result, she attempted suicide by trying to overdose on pills with alcohol.

“I sent him a message to tell him it was not worth it anymore, however, he rushed home and found me before I overdosed on the pills,” she said.

Even though she didn’t win, she got an opportunity to rub shoulders with Hollywood stars at the ceremony.

According to Sunday World, the 27-year-old just bagged herself a role on Generations: The Legacy, one of Mzansi’s biggest soapies.

Thuso Mbedu won a SAFTAs for best actress in a TV drama for her sterling portrayal of Winnie in Mzansi Magic’s telenovela Isithembiso.

According to reports found on SowetanLIVE, sources told the publication that Thuso was informed a week ago that she will be joining Generations as one of lead characters.
