Terry Pheto’s Leading Lady Lounge 2015 was a great success

Terry’s Pheto hosted her second inaugural Leading Lady Lounge to a great reception at the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) this past weekend. Her film, Ayanda, opened the festival on the Thursday night, and the stars of the movie joined her for the next two days at the Maharani Elangeni in Durban.

The Leading Lady Lounge 2015 partnered with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture at eThekwini Municipality as well as media partner, Cliff Central, and was held on 17 and 18 July 2015. The Leading Lady Lounge 2015 created networking opportunities for South Africa’s film stars and stakeholders, aspiring drama students, invited guests and media who enjoyed food and drinks while getting their hair and makeup touched up before taking part in a glamorous pop-up Portrait Studio. The Leading Lady Lounge 2015 was visited by more than 80 people each day. See below some of the highlights.

Day 1: Highlights

  • Thembinkosi Ngcobo, Head Parks, Recreation and Culture and Terry Pheto greeted guests and formally opened the lounge for 2015.
  • Bongani Tembe, Chief Executive and Artistic Director KZN Philharmonic addressed the audience, and has received international recognition as one of Africa’s leading arts administrators.
  • The Filmmakers panel session was attended by high profile guests:

  • The Actors Roundtable was a lively and relevant discussion hosted by Relebogile Mabotja with stars from the DIFF Opening Film – Ayanda. The roundtable was fully engaged with stars:

Day 2: Highlights

  • Mandela Day started with 67 minutes of storytelling with Relebogile Mabotja who read to and thoroughly engaged a group of young children from Save The Children South Africa, the children’s version of Long Walk to Freedom, abridged and illustrated edition.
  • The Actors Roundtable was hosted by journalist Zookey Zarling with different stars and focused on living a legacy, while also leaving a legacy:
