Thando Thabethe resigns from 5FM

Thando Thabethe, South African actress, radio DJ and television host, has resigned from 5FM. The media personality revealed that she has officially resigned from the station after being with the station 5FM for five years.

In an exclusive meeting with Channel24 on Tuesday afternoon, Thando Thabethe said: “We had to make a very difficult decision, something we’ve had to ponder over for many, many months. Basically, I’ve tendered my resignation at 5FM. And the idea is to focus on the things that I want to do.”

She also took to Instagram where she wrote: “And so, I’ve dropped the mic …after 6 years at 5FM and 11 years in radio, this is it. Hardest day of my life…but most beautiful!!! (sic).”

5FM has also released a statement wishing Thando well on her future. “The SABC can confirm that Ms. Thando Thabethe resigned from 5FM. The station would like to wish Ms. Thabethe well on her future endeavors and thank her for her contribution to the station. 5FM will in due course announce the changes to its line-up and will keep listeners abreast of any further developments” – 5FM station manager, JD Mostert said.

Thando joined 5FM in 2014 and officially took over the drive slot in 2017 with the Thabooty Drive. Her last show on 5FM will be on Thursday 5 March.
