South African actor, Theodore Jantjies, best known for his starring role as Xander Meintjies in the SABC 2’s Afrikaans soapie 7de Laan, is leaving the show.
Theodore Jantjies made his television debut in the e.tv sitcom Madam and Eve, which was followed by the e.tv primetime soap, Scandal!. He then moved and starred in the Henry Mylne production of Die Swerfjare van Poppie Nongena.
In 2008, the actor joined SABC2 soap 7de Laan, in which he portrayed the character of Xander Meintjies. His character has grown through the past 14 years and won the love and support of fans across the country.
Speaking to IOL, Theodore Jantjies said: “Xander Meintjies has been a part of my life for 14 years, and we have shared ups and downs, tears of joy and heartaches. For more than a decade, I have had the privilege to get to know this character and share him with all of you, in all his perfect and often imperfect glory.”
He also said that to be a part of one of South Africa’s most beloved shows, ‘7de Laan’, has been one of the highlights of his career as an actor, and he is most grateful to Danie Odendaal and Annie Basson for the opportunity they granted him 14 years ago.
