South African-born, superstar comedian Trevor Noah is set to host the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 taking place in Johannesburg.

The event, which will take place on Sunday, 2nd December in Johannesburg, will be honouring Nelson Mandela’s centennial.
Trevor Noah joins a line-up of co-hosts of the host committee including Naomi Campbell, Bonang Matheba, Sir Bob Geldof, Tyler Perry, Gayle King and Forest Whitaker.
Local celebrities such as K Naomi, Lucas Radebe, Nandi Madida, Pearl Thusi, Somizi and Zakes Bantwini will also join as Global Citizen: Mandela 100 Advocates to support the campaign against extreme poverty.
“It is an honor to be a part of the Global Citizen Festival event celebrating the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela,” Trevor said in a statement.
The Daily Show host further added: “I am where I am today living as a free South African because of much of what he did, and so I’m beyond excited to be teaming up with so many others to pay tribute to the man in his home country.”

Global Citizen CEO and founder Hugh Evans sees Noah as one of the most powerful television broadcasters.

Beyonce, Jay Z, Cassper Nyovest, D’Banj, ED Sheeran, Femi Kuti, Pharell Williams, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher and Wizkid, will take to the stage to perfom.
