TUT4Life: How to Access TUT4Life Email

What is TUT4Life?

TUT4Life Email is a web-based mailbox which is available to TUT students for life mechanism for Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) to communicate with its students and alumni. In order to access this integrated service, you must be a registered student at TUT.

With this service, you get easy, fast, reliable e-mail, with spam protection and plenty of storage. Registered students’ TUT4Life accounts also provide for access to the Internet in the computer labs, ERC’s and i-Centres.

How Does TUT4Life Work?

You must be a TUT registered student to access this integrated service. Once you’ve registered to study at TUT, you will receive 50GB email and 1TB SkyDrive account which is automatically created with additional access to other Microsoft tools.

How to Activate TUT4Life Account?

To activate TUT4Life your account, you need to reset your account. Here’s how to reset the password:

  • Step 1: Open your Internet browser
  • Step 2: Type in https://tut4life.tut.ac.za
  • Step 3: Click on “Reset My Password”
  • Step 4: Enter your student and ID / Passport Number then click on “Submit”
  • Step 5: Enter a new password
  • Step 6: Now select a new password
  • Step 7: Confirm your new password then wait for 2 minutes for the password to synchronize, then you can login to your email (TUT4Life Login)

Please note the following password criteria

  • Password must contain characters from four of the following categories:
    • Uppercase characters (A through Z)
    • Lowercase characters (a through z)​
    • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
    • Special characters: ~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;”‘<>,.?/​
  • Password must contain at least 8 characters and a maximum of 16
  • Your student number may not appear in your password
  • Password may not consist of 4 consecutive numerical
  • Password must not contain the user’s account name (full names and surname)
