UP Connect: University of Pretoria Student Portal Login

UP Connect is University of Pretoria’s online portal for both students and staff. The zero-rated UP Connect Portal was launched by the University of Pretoria (UP) last year to help students and staff access information and work online.

What is UP Connect?

UP Connect is the University of Pretoria (UP) online portal for students and staff to access all the resources they need to continue studies and work online.

The UP Connect Platform was launched last year April by the University of Pretoria (UP). The UP Connect Portal allow both students and staff to access everything they need to continue with their studies and work online, at no data cost.

When Did the UP Connect Start to Work?

The University of Pretoria (UP), started their second semester through online teaching and learning methods from 4 May until 17 June. Students who were in financial need and required devices, were given devices to allow them to have access to e-learning.

How Does UP Connect Work?

UP Connect is a unique portal that can be accessed through an internet browser on any device. To access the Portal, you need to visit https://connect.up.ac.za/. Students don’t need data to access UP Connect, no matter what network they are using and they can find all content from UP.

Speaking about the new portal last year, Prof Tawana Kupe, Vice-Chancellor and Principal stated that “I’m also excited to announce that we have developed a unique portal called UP Connect https://connect.up.ac.za for users to access – through an internet browser on any device – all UP-related content as well as the University’s digital systems without incurring any data charges. This was made possible with the help of South Africa’s major telecommunications providers and will work on all the networks, including MTN, Vodacom, Telkom and Cell C.”

“It is an innovative way of giving students and staff access to everything they need to continue with their work and studies online, at no data cost.” – Prof Tawana Kupe said.

Staff and students only need their portal credentials to log in and to get free access to the following services:

  • The UP Web
  • clickUP
  • Library Services
  • Library Search
  • Lib Guides
  • UP and TUKS Gmail
  • GIBS
  • GIBS Blackboard
