South Africa is mourning the loss of one of its most respected actors, Seputla Sebogodi, who passed away at the age of 62 following complications related to diabetes.

According to IOL, his family confirmed his passing in a statement released on Thursday, revealing that the acclaimed actor died on the evening of Wednesday, July 15, 2026. They requested privacy as they grieve the loss of their beloved family member.
“It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of Seputla Sebogodi following complications related to diabetes,” the family said.
Sebogodi was celebrated as one of South Africa’s finest performers, with a career spanning several decades across theatre, television, and film. His talent and dedication to the performing arts earned him widespread admiration from audiences and fellow actors alike.
He became a familiar face on South African television through memorable roles in popular productions such as Generations, Suburban Bliss, Bophelo ke Semphego, Redemption, and most recently, Scandal!. His performances brought depth and authenticity to every character he portrayed, making him one of the country’s most respected actors.
