What is Wits Sakai? It is Wits University’s online learning management system students. Also known as Wits-e, it is built on the SAKAI platform. Wits-e replaced WebCT at the end of 2012 as the University’s official new eLearning platform.
Sakai is a free, community source, educational software platform designed to support teaching, learning environment, research and collaboration. Also known as Learning Management System, Course Management System, or Virtual Learning Environment, Wits e Sakai is used by thousands of Wits students everyday.

Wits Sakai Login
How to log into Wits Sakai self service? The Wits e Sakai login page is simple and easy to use. Below are the steps you need to follow to access the My Wits Sakai login.
- STEP 1: To sign in, go to https://wits-e.wits.ac.za/portal
- STEP 2: Enter your username (user-id) and password
- STEP 3: Click “Sign In” to log into the Wits-e/Sakai service
Please note that your User-ID is your Wits student number and you use the same password you use when you log into your Wits Student mail and Wits computer.
Wits Sakai Password Reset
Did your Wits Sakai portal login fail? Maybe is because you forgot your password. Here’s how to reset your Wits e Sakai password without having to call the Wits ICT Service Desk.
- STEP 1: Go to passwordreset.wits.ac.za
- STEP 2: Enter your username and click “Next”
You will receive an email with a link where you can securely reset your Wits Sakai password. You will have 1 hour before this link expires.
