We are not surprised though, we’ve seen it coming, but it looks like the 47-year-old wrestler wanted to make things official by letting his fans know that he has hung up his boots and his in-ring career is over.

When promoting his latest movie Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw on Live with Kelly and Ryan, he dropped a bombshell.

The People’s Champion Dwayne Johnson said: ‘I miss wrestling, I love wrestling. Yes, I do…’

“Yes, I do…I quietly retired from wrestling because I was lucky enough to have just a really wonderful career and accomplish what I wanted to accomplish, but there’s nothing like a live crowd, a live audience, a live microphone as you both know.”

The Rock, who made his WWE debut during the Survivor Series back in 1996, further explained his involvement in the sport: “Plus I grew up in wrestling, my grandfather wrestled, my dad wrestled my whole family” – he said.

According to The Sun, “The Rock left WWE 15 years ago to embark on his silverscreen career but has returned to the squared-circle on several occasions since, most notably for two WrestleMania showdowns with John Cena in 2012 and 2013.”
