2017 Promises to be bigger and better as the Crowns reach a decade of Gospel Music Excellence in the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards
The World Gospel Powerhouse is excited to officially announce that this year, on the last week of November 2017, the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards will be celebrating 10 Years since its inception.
This year the Awards will take place on the 25-26th November 2017 at the Durban ICC Arena, but we invite everyone to start preparing now for this grand event since we will have celebrations commencing from Thursday the 23rd November 2017, prior to the Awards evening. On Saturday, 25 November, the 2nd Christian Expo Africa will kick off at the Durban ICC. This Expo will host a range of exhibitors who will showcase all things Christian – from literature, books, Music, DVDs, Clothing and other related merchandise, products & services. The 2017 Crown Awards will run over two nights starting on the 25thNovember 2017 and the Main Awards Night on the 26th November 2017, Live on SABC 2. “We urge all Gospel Music lovers and supporters to make earnest preparations and even put in leave notices from work for the Monday after the Crown Awards weekend”, adds Zanele Mbokazi.

Nomination applications for the 10th SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards have opened till the 30th September 2017. New This Year:
Two new additional categories have been added this year, which form part of the categories that are open for nominations. These categories are Best Itende and Best Clap-&-Tap.
Decade Categories in Celebrating 10 Years of the Crowns:
In celebrating 10 years, a milestone of grace and mercy, the crown awards will be opening two special categories that will be open for the public to make nominations. These categories are Gospel Artist of the Decade and Gospel Song of the Decade. Nominations for these two categories are now open and the public can now nominate by using our sms line as follows: (SMS costs R1.50 each)
