Flower Seller Johannes Qambelisha Gifted A Car Live On Jacaranda FM

Earlier this month, Jacaranda FM and its Good Morning Angels initiative donated a staggering R40 000 to West Rand flower seller Johannes Qambelisha, a familiar face just off the N1 on Beyers Naudé off-ramp where he has been selling flowers for three decades. The funds will help with Johannes’ medical needs and family responsibilities. However, when sharing his touching story on air, more Jacaranda FM listeners called in to contribute more.

The fantastic folks at Together We Bloom NPC donating R20 000 towards a car for Johannes, as he believes transport would enable him and his children to grow their business. Another listener called in and offered to sell her car at a very cheap price, however, this didn’t quite work out. So, Jacaranda FM reached out to Barry Harmse from Motus Toyota Bryanston who stepped in and helped secure Johannes his very own car.

Barry managed to find Johannes a car at just R37 000, serviced it, put on new tyres, personalised Johannes’ Number Plates and put in a new car radio. Additionally, Barry will put the vehicle through the required roadworthy test, transfer it to Johannes’ name, and keep it until Johannes can take ownership. He has also thrown in two annual services free of charge!

This morning, live on Jacaranda FM, the Breakfast with Martin Bester team and Barry Harmse handed over the vehicle to an emotional Johannes. The vehicle will help Johannes sell more flowers and take his business to the next level as he continues to be the sole breadwinner for his family.

“What a privilege to do this every week, but especially today. Johannes has been part of the Randpark community for almost as long as Jacaranda FM has been on the airwaves – and when he wasn’t at his usual spot off the Beyers Naudé off-ramp – his community noticed and community goodwill ensured that he would get back up on his feet (or wheels rather). What a precious moment – Good job angels, good job!” – Martin Bester

This is a true testament to the incredible sense of family the Jacaranda FM community shares and the tremendous impact Good Morning Angels continues to have on the country.
