The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes millions of social grants every month in South Africa. According to the Department of Social Development (DSD), approximately 29 million South Africans receive grants.
Sassa is responsible for administering a variety of grants to qualifying citizens, including Child Support Grants, Older Person’s Grants, Disability Grants and the special COVID-19 SRD grants.
Sassa grants are paid from the second day of every month.
If the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will take place on the following working day. As usual, the older persons and linked grants will be paid first, followed by the disability grant the next day and then the child grant.
