How do I appeal a Sassa R350 grant declined? Don’t worry, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) allows you to appeal a Sassa R350 grant declined. The Sassa Social Relief of Distress grant (SRD) is paid to all qualifying beneficiaries. If you are one of those people who have been declined, you can apply for an appeal due to your rejected application status. In this article, you will learn how to lodge an appeal for your declined R350 grant application.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) continues to distribute the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.

Sassa stated on Twitter that “COVID-19 SRD applicants, whose applications were declined, can lodge an appeal for reconsideration within 90 days of the outcome. This can be done on the DSD Independent Tribunal website https://srd.dsd.gov.za/appeals/.”

Sassa will pay the SRD grant payment of applicants who have lodged application appeals after their initial application. If your SRD grant application was declined, you can submit your R350 grant appeal, here are the steps to follow.

How Do I Appeal A SASSA R350 Grant Declined?

  1. Visit srd.dsd.gov.za
  2. Click on the green bar that says ‘click here to lodge an appeal or check appeal status’
  3. Enter your ID number
  4. Enter your cellphone number
  5. Click ‘send pin’ and wait for the SMS which will contain the verification pin
  6. Enter the pin and click ‘submit’
  7. Select the month you are submitting an appeal for
  8. Select the drop down arrow and choose the reason for your appeal
  9. Click ‘submit’

Please note that you must appeal for each month that your request was rejected. Applications for appeal will be reviewed by the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).

The Independent Tribunal is mandated to consider appeals in terms of section 18 of the Social Assistance Act, 2004 read together with the Covid-19 SRD Regulations and will consider the appeal against the qualifying criteria as set out in the Covid-19 SRD Regulations. The Independent Tribunal will reassess the decision of SASSA against the available information at its disposal. The Independent Tribunal will endeavor to finalize the appeal within 60 – 90 days from the date on which the appeal was received and inform the appellant electronically of the outcome of the appeal and reasons thereof.
