You can also check your SASSA SRD grant balance and status on WhatsApp. To do this, simply send the word “SASSA” to the SASSA WhatsApp number (082 046 8553). You will then be guided through the process of checking your balance and status.

  1. Add the SASSA WhatsApp number (082 046 8553) to your contacts.
  2. Open WhatsApp and send a message to the SASSA number that says “Status”.
  3. You will receive an automated response asking for your South African ID number.
  4. Reply with your South African ID number.
  5. You will receive another automated response asking for your phone number.
  6. Reply with the phone number that you used to apply for the SASSA SRD grant.
  7. You will receive a final automated response with your SASSA SRD grant balance and status.

You can also check your SASSA SRD grant balance and status using USSD. To do this, dial *120*3210# on your cellphone and follow the prompts.

  2. Follow the prompts carefully
  3. Alternatively dial USSD *120*69277# on your cellphone and follow the prompts carefully

How To Check SASSA Grant Status Via The SASSA SRD Grant Website

  1. Go to the SASSA SRD website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status
  2. Enter your South African ID number and the phone number that you used to apply for the grant.
  3. Click on the “Submit” button.
  4. Your SASSA SRD grant balance and status will be displayed on the next page.
