Neo Soul singer and song writer, Nubia Soul’s, new single Back To Love featuring Ocean Deep has been well received across the country.
The song is a deep house/lounge anthem infused with an incarnation of new age soul. Nubia Soul, who is renowned for releasing her musical projects independently, has again released this single through the label which she co-owns called House of Nubia Soul.
After releasing her solo offering in 2013 entitled Love Chronicles, Nubia Soul (real name Elnathan Sidu) announces her return after her short musical sabbatical. When asked about the story behind the song, Nubia describes her latest single as “not a song about love” in the conventional sense. The song was written after a traumatic incident (among other things) that happened to the songstress. After going through the “grief cycle” of coming to grips and pulling together – the song signifies the intent that Nubia Soul is now back to doing what she loves.
More notably on her interview with the Sowetan newspaper entitled “Nubia Soul is a child of the world”, published on 18 July 2015, Nubia Soul stated: “It’s about the love we as humans used to have for each other, like love for your neighbour. We are losing so much that used to identify us as people, so in this song, even though it may be a dance tune, I am merely saying let’s love one another like we used to.”
Since embarking on a nationwide radio campaign for Back To Love, the single has since been well received and has been play listed by the likes of Motheo FM, UCT Radio, VOW FM, Bush Radio, Inanda FM, Botlokwa Radio, Baberton Radio, Eldos FM, Tshwane FM, Emalahleni FM, Naledi FM and TransAfrica Radio just to mention a few.
