The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is a government entity responsible for distributing social grants to more than 16 million South Africans. SASSA has been administering social grants to South African citizens that need financial assistance on a monthly basis since the past 16 years. The Sassa payment schedule for upcoming months has been released by the government agency.
More than 16 million of individuals in South Africa benefit from social grants on a monthly basis. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) distributes social grant payments on the second day of the month. Permanent grants are paid in the first week of the month. If the second day of the month happens to be during the weekend or public holiday, payments will be made on the following working day.
SASSA has released the following social grants payment schedule for the months January 2023, February 2023 and March 2023:
January 2023

- Disability Grants: 04/01/2023
- Children’s Grants: 05/01/2023
February 2023

SASSA said that there is no fixed payment date for those who receive their SRD grant payments through the bank account. The Sassa Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD) grant is a temporary grant and will be paid until March 2024.
“Qualified beneficiaries get paid monthly, payment dates are reflected on the system. SRD grant beneficiaries must wait for the SMS with their grant payment dates. They will also be able to check when they can collect their grant by checking on the SRD grant website.
SRD grant beneficiaries should know that there is no fixed payment date for the grant. If there’s no payment dates, it means that the beneficiaries need to be verified in the system every month whether the client is still qualifying to receive the grant. The payment will be processed after.
According to SASSA, some selected stores will provide social grant recipients with SASSA grant payment schedules. Information regarding grants will also be communicated to them.
