The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced an increase in all social grants, effective from 1 October 2023. The increase is intended to help beneficiaries cope with the rising cost of living.
About Sassa Grants Increase October 2023
The Child Support Grant Top-Up remains unchanged at R250.
SASSA beneficiaries will automatically receive the increased grant amounts on their usual payment day. There is no need to apply for the increase.
SASSA encourages all beneficiaries to check their contact details to ensure that they are still correct. This can be done by logging in to the SASSA website or by contacting the SASSA toll-free number on 0800 60 10 11.
The increase in SASSA grants is a welcome relief for many South Africans who rely on these grants to meet their basic needs. The government has stated that it is committed to providing social assistance to the most vulnerable members of society.
Which Sassa Grants Are Being Increased?
All SASSA grants will increase by R10 in October 2023, except for the Child Support Grant Top-Up, which remains unchanged at R250.
The new monthly amounts for each grant are as follows:
- Old Age Grant: R2090 for recipients between 60 and 74 years old, and R2110 for recipients over 75 years old.
- Disability Grant: R2090
- Child Support Grant: R510
- Foster Child Grant: R1130
- Child Care Dependency Grant: R2090
- War Veterans Grant: R2110
- Grant-in-Aid: R510
Sassa Grant Payment Dates for October 2023
October 2023 grant payments were be paid from Tuesday, 3 October 2023 starting with the older persons’ grants. Here is the Sassa grant payment schedule for October 2023:
- Older Persons Grant – October 3, 2023
- Disability Grant – October 4, 2023
- Children’s Grants – October 5, 2023
