The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the payment dates for January 2023. SASSA explained that if the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the grant will be distributed on the following working day.
SASSA is a government entity responsible for distributing social grants to more than 16 million South Africans. SASSA is also responsible for distributing the Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant), which is administered in terms of section 32 of the Social Assistance Act.

Sassa Payment Dates:
- Older Persons/ Pensioners Grant: Tuesday, 3 January 2023
- Disability Grant: Wednesday, 4 January 2023
- All other Grants: Thursday, 5 January 2023
SASSA beneficiaries may collect their Sassa payments from selected supermarkets such as Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, OK, Pick n Pay and USave, and also have the money deposited into their bank accounts or receive funds through their SASSA card or CashSend.
