The agency has said that once you submit your the Covid-19 R350 grant application and choose bank as your payment method, you submit your banking details as part of your SASSA SRD application process. This would make paying your R350 grant easier and faster. You will then be able to withdraw your R350 at any ATM.
Payment Collection
Should you not have a bank account, you can also collect your grant cash by visiting a Checkers, Shoprite, USave, OK, Boxer or Pick n Pay store. Alternatively, you can also receive your R350 grant through a CashSend. SASSA has previously advised clients to wait for an SMS confirmation to say there has been confirmation of payment before they go and collect the grant money. SASSA Status Pending
When you have applied for a SASSA grant, you will want to do a status check so see how your application is going. If you see ‘pending’, it means your application has not yet been approved, your details still need to be screened and verified first. Once approved, you will receive an SMS from SASSA requesting your banking details, then you will be paid. Yes, there is no set payment date for the special COVID-19 SRD grant.

Payments for the new cycle of the special COVID-19 SRD grant (from April 2022) will be paid as from mid-August 2022.
“SASSA will continue clearing outstanding payments from the previous cycle as and when the bank details are confirmed.
The payments will not be done together, but will be done month by month. More than one payment may be made in a month, but no one will receive double payments in amount. SASSA will do these multiple payments in a month until the backlog is finalized, where after monthly payments will resume.” – the agency said

- Thursday, 04 August 2022: Children’s Grant.

After checking SASSA Status, you should know about the R350 reconsideration process. The SRD grant reconsideration process is completed by individuals whose SRD grant application was rejected by SASSA. The R350 grant applicants have 30 days to appeal their rejected grant statuses in order to access the government relief. SASSA explained that grant applications made to the agency must be verified.
Who qualifies for R350 grant? Remember, the Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) is meant for South African Citizens, Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Special Permit Holders who are between the ages of 18 and 60 years, who have insufficient means, who do not receive social grants on behalf of herself/ himself or who are not contributing to or eligible for UIF payment, and have no financial support from any other source.
