The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has announced that September Sassa payments will start on Friday, 2 September 2022. Around 18 million individuals living in South Africa benefit from permanent grants distributed by Sassa. These Sassa grants are paid from the second day of every month.
September 2022 Sassa Grant Payment Dates
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has announced that Sassa payments will be paid from the second day of every month. Approximately 18 million South Africans vulnerable to poverty or in need of state support receive social grants, relief assistance or social relief paid by the government.
Sassa has explained that if the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the grant will be distributed on the following working day.
Sassa will begin September grant payments on Friday, 2 September 2022 starting with Older Person’s Grant. Monday 5 September 2022: Disability Grant. Tuesday 6 September 2022: All Other Grants.

Sassa SRD Grant Payment Dates for September 2022
Please note that Sassa does not have set payment dates for the distribution of the Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant. The SRD grants are distributed by Sassa and can be collected at the following retail stores; Checkers, Shoprite, USave, Pick N Pay and Boxer stores.
