Someone who looks like me was using my car and licence – Letoya Makhene

South African actress, singer and TV personality Letoya Makhene says that she was wrongfully accused of driving under the influence of alcohol two years ago because someone was using her driver’s licence.

Latoya is well known for acting in South Africa’s famous soap operas, Isidingo and Generations: The Legacy as Tshidi.

The actress was allegedly nabbed in Bramley, Johannesburg, for drunk driving in 2015. However, the actress, singer and sangoma maintains her innocence, saying someone known to her was driving using her documents.

She, however, did not reveal the identity of the person. “Someone who looks like me was using my car and licence, and that person has since been admitted to a mental institution.” – she says.

Makhene said the person looks like her but refused to divulge if it was one of her sisters or close relatives. “This is a personal matter and you are digging up for things that will hurt a lot of people, but I know you don’t care,” she said.

According to Bramley police spokesman Molefe Mogodi the case was opened at the station. He said the matter was resolved in court.
