Swazi Goons Joins The Sony Music Family

New kids on the block Swazi Goons have officially joined the Sony Music family and announce the release of their new single Habit dropping on the 28th of October 2022.

Senior A&R Manager Gavin Gutu expressed his excitement on signing the trio by sharing “My excitement around Swazi Goons came about when after listening to their single ‘Habit’ I got to talking to the boys about their journey. I was fascinated by their resilience and the sacrifices they’ve made to get to this moment. The boys have a vision to bring Trap Piano to the mainstream and they’ve got the music to back it up! The future looks exciting for Swazi Goons and they’re the latest addition to the Amapiano global movement.”

Swazi Goons is a brotherhood movement birthed by members Albert “Brown Shugela” Zungu and Mxolisi “Blaq Makoya” Mlotshwa Ndlandla with Thabang Triiio Trapiano. The musicians are now ready to tell their story through their music Trapiano a sub-genre of Amapiano. When explaining the sound Trapiano, Triiio Trapiano explained “It’s basically trap music with the infusion of Amapiano. From the way I create instruments, making beats, melodies using harmonic scales, dark melodies to create a vibey and relatable sound”

When asked how they feel about joining the Sony Music family, Blaq Makoya shared “It feels like a dream come true being part of a whole big brand like Sony music” Brown shugela added “I am very happy to be part of SMEA Family, at some point it makes me feel like the next big thing in Africa.” Lastly Triiio Trapiano said “It has been a long time coming. It’s the biggest highlight in my life right now”

Their upcoming single Habit showcases a glimpse of the party lifestyle and culture of Amapiano, Swazi Goons makes reference to this in their lyrics “ama savannah, ama TikTok trend nama Spotify ama iPhone, yi habit weh ma” encapsulating the entire movement.
