SABC 1 drama Uzalo to broadcast double episode wedding special next week

South Africa’s most watched soap opera drama Uzalo will broadcast double episode wedding special next week. According to My Broad Band, the show pulls approximately 9.1 million viewers each episode.

According to Political Analysis website, Nkunzi (played by Masoja Msiza) will marry both MaNgcobo (played by Dawn Thandeka King) and MaMlambo (played by Gugu Gumede) in a dramatic wedding special broadcast on Monday, 24 September and Tuesday, 25 September 2018.

Over the past season, a three-sided love tryst has been developing between Nkunzi, MaNgcobo and MaMlambo.

In a teaser video sent out by Uzalo, behind-the-scenes details about the episode were revealed, along with photographs of the characters in costume.

MaNgcobo brings along her trusted ‘friend’ to the white wedding ceremony as she tries to stop Nkunzi and MaMlambo’s nuptials.

Local entertainer Zodwa Wabantu was over the moon after she got a shout-out from Mzansi Magic’s telenovela ‘The Queen’.

Wabantu has since reached out to The Queen producer Connie Ferguson asking for a role on the show.

In a video shared by Zodwa on Instagram, The Queen actress Thembsie Matu, who plays a character of Petronella said she wanted Vee (played by Zandile Msutwana) to get married so that she could vosho like Zodwa.

Zodwa captioned her Instagram video, saying: “@thembsiematu @ferguson_films @connie_ferguson The Queen my lady Connie☺ I was watching😍😍😍I want to learn about acting.I like TV,I want to be on TV. Show me the doors for auditions 2019 please. I’m ready Zodwa Wabantu,yes I will learn. Dream awake,Ngiphupha ngivukile mina. Voshooo to TV I stay everywhere Durban & Johannesburg (sic).”

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Wabantu said it was a sign that now was her time to shine on screen.

“I didn’t even know that Ma Connie knows my name. I mean, I know that people know me but to have my name mentioned was great. Maybe they can sit down and plan a role for me. It is like I am everywhere and I am coming for everything. It is only a matter of time.”

Uzalo actor Nay Maps is seen as one of the hottest young male celebrities in South Africa. He is best known for his role as Mxolisi Xulu on SABC1’s soapie Uzalo.

Nay, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphalala made his television acting debut in 2014 when he made a cameo as a guest starring role as Tshepo in the second season of the Mzansi Magic soapie Isibaya. Then came Uzalo, which is his biggest acting job so far.

In an interview with East Coast Radio, Nay Maps announced that he is single and looking for a date. The Uzalo actor revealed that he feels ready to meet someone special as he thinks that he has a lot of love to give. He said in an interview that he wants to give someone the opportunity to go on a date with him.

Uzalo pauses production pending payment from SABC

Popular SABC1 telenovela Uzalo has paused production for the remainder of this month, a statement from its production company Stained Glass Pictures confirms.

According to SowetanLive, the decision was taken by the cast and crew of the SABC 1 show until such a time as they are paid their August salaries, which were due on 25 August.

Since they were unable to make payments on ‘payday’, the 25th of August, the staff have exercised their right to withhold services until they receive their August salaries.

“Production on the popular Mzansi telenovela, Uzalo has been paused for the remainder of this month. This follows an amicable decision by the cast and crew to suspend their services until such a time as they are paid their August salaries, which came due on the 25th of August.” – the statement reads.

Nkunzi from Uzalo says he is not a Tsotsi

Uzalo actor Masoja Msiza, better known as Nkunzi has addressed congregants of Jesus Is Alive Church in Rode Village, near Mount Ayliff, Eastern Cape, that he is not a criminal.

Masoja has been blamed for an attempted ATM bombing. Masoja who plays a thug on the SABC1 telenovela told the church that “I am not a criminal. I am just an actor who believes in God.”

According to Daily Sun, accusations came after attempted ATM bombing in Matatiele, Eastern Cape, last month, residents started saying the thugs could have been inspired by Msiza’s TV role.

This came after reports that the actor planned to hold auditions in and around Matatiele to find talented youth. However, Msiza on Saturday said he had never planned on going to Matatiele.

Uzalo’s Siyabonga Shibe: I am not paid what I deserve. I am not paid enough

Uzalo actor Siyabonga Shibe says he doesn’t get paid what he deserves, he is not paid enough money. 

Speaking to TshisaLive, the actor said artists are not paid enough in the crafts: “I remember I was on the taxi once and someone grabbed my hat off my head and said, ‘I know you! You are on TV, why are you riding in a taxi?’ I asked her what she did for a living and she told me she was a teacher. I said to her, ‘then why are you riding a taxi if you are a teacher? People don’t really understand that this is a career like everyone else’s. It is hard with that pressure.”

The former Gaz’lam actor says the industry doesn’t recognise their hard work. He feels like he’s working hard to deliver the best.
