Thick Leeyonce slams body shamer on social media

Photographer and plus-size blogger Lesego Legobane aka Thick Leeyonce trended on social media after she hit back at a body-shamer on Twitter in a spectacular way. Twitter user Leyton Mokgerepi‏ tried his best attempt at a popular meme format on Tuesday, but failed miserably and publicly in his attempt.

The comparative format’s pretty simple and can be applied to a variety of situations, however, this version is pretty gross and exists only to body shame women. “Girls that I like vs girls that like me,” the post reads, along with images of two women.

Leyton’s attempt at humour may have been liked more than 5,000 times, but Lesego’s short and sweet response proved far more popular.

The blogger simply quote-tweeted Leyton’s message, saying: “I don’t like you.”

Her post was soon liked more than 900,000 times by men and women around the world, including Ariana Grande.

Mokgerepi attempted to right his wrong by later tweeting the same image of Leeyonce with the caption “Girlfriend Goals.” However, the damage was done, and no one believed him.

Lesego said she was surprised to find herself at the centre of a viral body-shaming row.

“Someone tagged me on the meme asking if I had seen it, so I decided to reply because I felt he was being rude. I had no idea it would go viral,” she said.

“I hate it when men think that fat girls are desperate and that we like every other guy because ‘we don’t have options’. I can be fat and still out of your league.”
